This might sound strange at first. But keep reading because
it’s there to help someone.

Unhealthy guilt is when you ask God for forgiveness and you
know He has said He casts your sins as far as the east is from
the west… However, you can’t let go and move on because
you’re plagued with guilt. Sometimes the guilt can be unbearable
and there are even times we think we need to carry the guilt
as a punishment for what we have done.

BUT… If you truly have wanted forgiveness from God and you have
asked Him for that forgiveness. HE HAS FORGIVEN YOU! So now it’s
a matter of you overcoming the guilt with positive thoughts.

It can take a bit of time to train your mind to think differently,
but it CAN be done.

Forgetting things can actually help you go from failure to success.
We tend to think just remembering things is what helps us succeed in
life the most. And yes that is true, we definitely need to keep
our skills sharp on whatever we are doing or wanting to
accomplish.

Sometimes it’s easier to remember the hardest skill than it is
to forget the worst sin or the grudges we might hold against
others that have hurt us.

But if we hold on to that stuff, we will not be able to move
forward. If you do not forget these lingering bad thoughts, they
will put a hold on you and can most likely cause you to live a
very miserable life.

Paul, who is one of the greatest men in the New Testament says in
Philippians 3:13-14 “Brethren, I count not myself to have
apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things
which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are
before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling
of God in Christ Jesus”.

For Paul, this was an amazing feat. Recall that Paul, before
being saved, persecuted Christians and was a major factor in many
of their deaths. Just imagine how these memories could have
haunted him. But Paul learned how to forget supernaturally. How
did he do that? How do we do it?

Paul gives us the answer in 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 “For though we
walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh (For the weapons
of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the
pulling down of strongholds,) Casting down imaginations, and
every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of
God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience
of Christ; and having in a readiness to revenge all
disobedience…”.

We are guided through life by our thoughts. What you think about
will direct what you say. You are truly what you think you are.
What you say will direct your actions. When you have thoughts that
beat the heck out of you, you need to do what the Word of God says.
We have to cast down those thoughts and replace them with what
God wants you to set our minds on.

To help you along, here are three things to you “should” remember.

First, your sins are not the devil’s business. Satan
will remind you of your past sins and will actually try to get you to
think it is God reminding you of them. Do not listen to the devil,
resist him and he will flee from you. Put on that spiritual armour
of God and stand strong! Keep reminding yourself of this ALL
THROUGH THE DAY – EVERY DAY!

The Second thing is, when you confess your sins, God will forgive you
and cleanse you from all unrighteousness just as He said He will.
Many times you will confess your sins but you do not feel that you
are forgiven. God does not lie, AND if He says He has forgiven you, then
you just need to know that you are forgiven. It is your feelings that are
telling you lies and your thoughts. Don’t live by your feelings when
it comes to this stuff… Live by the facts!

Thirdly now, get rid of the horrible thoughts and the bad memories by
speaking the Word and trusting God. Do what Jesus did. Say,
“It is written …” and say out loud what God has to say about it. Find
verses in the bible that match up to your problems and read those
verses out loud and repeat them (memorize them).
Your positive words are much more powerful than your thoughts.
You are what you think of yourself – so start thinking good things
about yourself and aim high to reach your goals. Believe that you can
do it. After all God says you can.

You do have to work hard at this. You cannot just sit around or lay around
and let your thoughts control you. You may have to say it over and over
and over again! Train your mind to control your thoughts and take those
steps to VICTORY!

You can always go to google and type in “Scriptures about _________”
(fill in the blank there)…

It helps some people to write down or print out those scriptures and
hang them on the wall, or bathroom mirror or refrigerator. You can carry
them in your pocket or just whatever works best for you that you can remind
yourself constantly of God’s Word about you.
